Springs go around your shocks, and try to make all the quick changes in the road seem near nothing. They do this by allowing your suspension to move independently from your chassis and absorb the movement. Some people like to put shortened springs on their car to lower the base center of gravity, and improve handling. Another application purpose would be to lower the gap between the tire and fender for appearance-sake. Whatever the purpose might be for you, the purpose of the spring is critical for a good ride.
For the sake of staying on topic for this site, we're going to talk about the most common applications on Honda Accords: Coil Springs.
